Siren: Blood Curse is a very slow-paced game that demands plenty of patience as you sneak from one area to the next and concentrate on self-preservation. The story is set in a cursed Japanese village.

Atmospherically it does a superb job, making you feel vulnerable without being completely useless. The episodic format works very well for dishing out the narrative and the production values are brilliant.

There are lots of controls to deal with when you first start playing and you long to be able to spin the camera in third-person view. It's also very easy to get lost in the darkness, but we support that is the point.

Best Bit: Hiding in the tiny cupboard and peering out at a persuing Shibito. Will they carry on past or have they already spotted you? Will they open the door and drag you out or move on to their next victim - Eeek! Keep perfectly silent and hold your breath.
